Choosing a waterproof or hard-wearing dog bed
What waterproof means
A waterproof cover keeps liquid out of the filling. It does not make the bed indestructible, so wipe up accidents promptly.
Firm versus soft
Wipe-clean surfaces are generally firmer than plush ones. A blanket on top gives comfort and goes in the wash separately.
Crates, cars and caravans
Several of these suit more than the house: they cope with a car boot, a crate or a kennel, as the product page says.
Chewers
No bed is chew-proof. A moulded plastic bed is the hardest to destroy, and a fabric bed should be watched for the first few days.
